Muse and English Cities Fund
Plymouth School of Creative Arts

Muse is one of the country's leading names in mixed-use development and urban regeneration - a national developer with regional operations in Manchester, London, Leeds and Glasgow. They transform the urban landscape through partnership working. Taking projects from initial agreement to completion, they create exceptional commercial, residential and mixed-use regeneration schemes.

English Cities Fund (ECf) was created by the government to identify and break through the barriers to institutional investment and pave the way for higher levels of private investment in the re-shaping of our towns and cities. ECf has shown that high-quality, mixed-use area-based regeneration schemes provide viable, attractive and worthwhile opportunities for institutional investors in the medium to long term, alongside lasting community benefits and environmental improvements.

Macegreen Consulting have been appointed by Muse Developments / English Cities Fund (ECF) to provide Development Monitoring services on the prestigious new School of Creative Arts in Millbay, Plymouth funded by the Education Funding Agency. The new school building provides a contemporary 'Gateway' through school facility that creates an exciting and optimistic first impression of Plymouth on arrival from the ferry port. The scheme forms an important part of the regeneration master plan for the Millbay docks area by Muse Developments and ECF. The Plymouth School of Creative Arts will be a mainstream, city-centre 4-16 through school designed to establish a seamless continuum of creative learning from age 4 through to BA and Masters programs at Plymouth College of Art, and into professional fulfilment within the creative economy. Its aim is to create a new model, of potentially national significance, for student aspiration, progression and achievement in art, craft, design and media practices. Planning consent was secured for the £12m value scheme in August 2013 and works commenced in October by Kier Construction as main contractor.
