Andy Mace BSc (Hons) MRICS
Director
Andy has over 35 years’ professional building consultancy experience in Central London, across the UK, Ireland and Europe. His experience spans both the Public and Private sectors and across the Commercial, Residential, Retail and Industrial property sectors, having worked with most types of investors, land owners and occupiers.
Andy’s career started at Drivers Jonas, leaving as a Partner after 20 years. He went on to head up Project Management at Rider Levett Bucknall in London, expanding the commercial and retail sectors as well as leading the development of the Social Housing Sector in London.
After working as an independent Development Consultant for 3 years, Andy joined up with Neal to broaden the offer and to grow a sustainable business built around high-quality advice placing clients first.
Andy specialises in Project and Development Management, new build and large-scale development work. He advises Developers, Local Authorities and Registered Providers of Housing, focussing in particular on Public Sector Development advice for housing and regeneration schemes over the last 15 years.
Andy is a Founder Director and joint owner of Macegreen Consulting.

Neal Green BSc (Hons) MRICS MAPM
Director
Neal has over 25 years’ experience working in professional building consultancy, mostly in Central London on of all types of property within both the public and private sectors. Neal started his career at Drivers Jonas in London. He then joined BNP Paribas Real Estate as a Director in 2006 and took over as Head of Building Consultancy in the South West, prior to becoming a Senior Director in 2007.
Neal has acted for and currently advises a wide range of organisations, including Schroders, RWE, Cadent, CMS, Primark, Mersten Ltd, National Care Group, Co-Work, The Chatsworth Settlement Trustees, Inspired Asset Management, Capital & Regional, The Crown Estate, Legal & General, Invista, Allied London Properties, The Home Office, Office of The Deputy Prime Minister, Morley, The Pollen Estate, John Lewis, Prudential, Hammerson and many more.
Now specialising in the project management or project monitoring of fit out, complex refurbishment and large-scale development work, he advises corporate clients, developers and funds.

Rob Chudley BSc (Hons) MRICS
Director
Rob has over 28 years’ experience of project experience in the South West, Central London and across the UK. He has provided consultancy advice on all types of property, acting for both the public and private sectors. Rob started his career in Exeter, followed by 10 years at Drivers Jonas, 7 years with Sweett Group and has been heading up project management in the Plymouth office since joining Macegreen as a Director in 2013.
Rob has acted for Muse Developments, Gamma Angia, SJA Estates, Sutton Harbour Holdings, Aviva, Millfields Trust, Princess Yachts, British Land Plc, Council for the Isles of Scilly, Ministry of Justice, Amber Infrastructure, Presentation Housing, Matrix Securities and many more. James Bird BSc (Hons) MRICS
Director - Head of Cost Consultancy
James is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 26 years’ experience in successfully delivering cost consultancy, project management and professional services to a range of public and private sector clients. Prior to joining Macegreen, James was a Director for Gleeds and Capita Property and Infrastructure. He has also co-founded a number of businesses in both residential development and Fin Tech sectors.
James has worked across a number of sectors including health, residential and industrial, delivering both cost consultancy and project director / project management services.
In the Public Sector, James has worked with a variety of clients such as the Welsh Assembly Government, States of Jersey, Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust, Somerset Partnership NHS Trust and Somerset County Council. In the Private Sector, clients include Sainsbury’s and Airbus along with numerous private clients and developers.
James is a Director of Macegreen and Head of National Cost Consultancy Services.

Rob Cameron BSc (Hons) MRICS
Director
Rob is a Chartered Project Manager and has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years. He joined Macegreen in May 2016 as an Associate Director, having previously worked across the South West with Sweett Group for 10 years and London and the Home Counties with EC Harris for 3 years. Rob is now a Director of Macegreen based in our Plymouth office.
Rob has considerable experience of successfully delivering complex projects across a wide range of public and private sectors, including health, residential, education, commercial, leisure, aviation and infrastructure.
Rob is fully conversant with all stages of the project delivery process (inception to completion), through various procurement routes and forms of contract (NEC & JCT).
Rob is also a qualified Building Surveyor, which brings an added dimension to his project management style providing a strong focus on building technology and sustainable construction, as well as an eye for detail regarding quality/compliance.

Andy Bamford BSc MRICS
Director
Andy has over 30 years’ experience as a Chartered Building Surveyor and Project/ Programme Manager, with significant experience across numerous sectors including commercial, nuclear and public sectors.
He worked for over 20 years with Drivers Jonas and Deloitte most of that time as a Salaried Partner leading the Birmingham Building Surveying and Project Management team. From 2012 until 2018 he worked for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority as a Programme Manager and Sellafield Ltd as Head of Performance Assurance.
More recently, he was a Regional Director and North West Building Surveying lead with Faithful & Gould. In this role he worked closely with a number of Universities, Local Authorities, Health Trusts and Multi Academy Trusts. He was also the regional lead for technical due diligence working with investors and funds.
Andy is now a Director with Macegreen heading up our Manchester office.

Steve Puddicombe BSc (Hons) FRICS
Director - Head of Building Surveying South West
Steve has over 27 years’ experience as a Chartered Building Surveyor on all types of property for private and public sector clients. He is regularly involved in technical due diligence for property acquisitions and disposals, building defects appraisals, feasibility studies, refurbishment programmes, planned maintenance, dilapidations, party wall matters and preparing fire insurance valuations.
Steve started his career with Drivers Jonas in London qualifying in 1995 but later relocated with King Sturge (latterly JLL) to the southwest in 2002 where he was a salary Partner leading the Building Surveying team in Bristol until 2016. Most recently he was a Senior Director for Cushman & Wakefield and Head of Building Surveying for the southwest region, joining Macegreen Consulting Ltd in 2023 as Director and Head of Building Surveying South West.

Victoria Strugnell-Green
Business Operations & Marketing
Victoria started her career over 30 years ago on a busy Derivatives trading floor, followed by many years working in the Advertising, Marketing and Newspaper Publishing industries, making her well equipped to deal with almost anything that may be thrown at her. She has extensive experience in dealing with people at all levels, setting up and managing office operations as well as dealing with marketing & social media, financial, IT, corporate governance, HR and a host of other functions. Victoria joined the business back in 2013 and is involved in all aspects behind the scenes at Macegreen. She frequently burns the midnight oil on their behalf! When she isn’t, you’ll find her out playing tennis, running and walking her dog.

Nicky Mace
Team PA & Bid Support
Nicky started her working life as a secretary with Drivers Jonas where she built her career over 12 years, eventually working for 2 Partners in the Building Department. Nicky then joined JPMorgan as Executive Assistant to the MD of Equity Derivatives. In addition, she was responsible for a team of secretarial staff, arranging global travel, general administration, organising Equity Derivatives roadshows around Europe and arranging global conferences – a challenging and fulfilling role.
Nicky left JPMorgan to raise her two children and for 10 years worked as a Virtual PA, working with non-executive directors and providing typing support for a number of multi-discipline surveying practices.
Nicky is now working with Macegreen as Team PA dealing with a wide variety of general administration and secretarial needs, as well as supporting the bid team.

Charlie Evans MBA BSc MRICS
Associate Director
Charlie is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 23 years’ experience of delivering project management, building surveying and professional services to a range of public and private sector clients.
Prior to joining Macegreen in 2019, Charlie was a Project Manager at Mitie TFM. He began his career in private practice, followed by 7 years in Local Authority Property Services, and then 6 years with EC Harris as a Managing Agent.
Charlie has worked for many different clients across a wide variety of buildings – including Listed Buildings, Civic, Offices, Courts, Commercial, Residential, Leisure and Retail.
Charlie is an Associate Director at Macegreen, based at our London office.

Phil Long BSc (Hons) MRICS MCIOB MAPM
Associate Director
Phil is a Chartered Construction Manager, Member of the Association of Project Management and Member of the RICS. Since then he has gained his APC and promotion to Associate Director as a key member of the project management team.
He has been in the real estate and construction industry for over 12 years, having previously worked for some of the UK’s top 10 main contractors including Balfour Beatty, Interserve, Kier and Mace. Phil has fulfilled a variety of roles, including client-side project management, contract administration and construction management and brings a wealth of on-site construction experience to Macegreen.
Phil has worked on a variety of projects and has experience of both new build and refurbishments across the public, private, commercial and residential sectors for organisations including RWE, the Chatsworth Settlement Trustees, The Metropolitan Police, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Newlon Housing Association.

Josh Stevens BSc (Hons) MRICS
Associate Director
Josh studied Building Surveying at Nottingham Trent University achieving a First-Class Honours Degree. Josh had 2 years’ experience as a Building Surveyor working in an SME prior to joining Macegreen in June 2018.
His primary experience to date has been in both the public and private residential sectors undertaking cyclical maintenance major works packages for various Arms-Length Management Organisations and Private Freeholders in Kensington and Chelsea. In addition, Josh also has experience in Party Wall matters and Licences for Alteration.
Since joining Macegreen, Josh has been able to further develop and gain invaluable commercial experience with a variety of our key clients, has successfully achieved his goal of becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor and gained promotion to Associate Director.

Simon Robinson BSc MRICS
Associate Director
Simon is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience of successfully delivering high quality cost consultancy and employer’s agent services across all spheres of the built environment.
During his career, Simon has worked for a broad range of clients in both the public and private sectors in practices throughout London, Wales and the South West of England. Sectors where Simon has acquired in-depth knowledge include heritage, residential, retail, offices, mixed-use, manufacturing, infrastructure, education and urban regeneration.
Prior to joining Macegreen in November 2021 as an Associate Director, Simon worked for Gardiner and Theobald where he was a Senior Commercial Manager and a Senior Associate.
Simon has also performed as a public sector procurement consultant for the likes of Transport for London, High Speed 2 and the Ministry of Defence on major projects up to £17bn.

Joe Swinson BSc (Hons) MRICS
Associate Director
Joe joined the Macegreen team as a Chartered Building Surveyor in June 2018, after serving just shy of 5 years at Colliers International. Since then he has become a key part of the team and gained promotion to Associate Director.
He has a wide range of experience, primarily across the private and commercial sectors, working for clients such as major lenders and funds, private investors, asset and property managers, retailers, charities and more. As part of his experience, Joe has acted for freeholders, leaseholders, landlords and tenants.
Joe can provide advice and offer services relating to Technical Due Diligence, Defect Analysis, Project Monitoring, Dilapidations, Licences for Alteration, Neighbourly Matters, Contract Administration and more.

Paul Irons BSc (Hons) MRICS MPTS
Senior Building Surveyor
Paul has 22 years’ experience as a Chartered Building Surveyor, working predominantly in consultancy, as well as spending six years working for a national housing association. Paul joined Macegreen as a Senior Building Surveyor in 2022.
He has worked for medium-sized and international consultancies, acting for both public and private sector clients such as Royal Mail, Co-op, Cornwall Council and Devon & Cornwall Police, in various sectors including residential, commercial, industrial and education. Paul has extensive experience in all aspects of Building Surveying, including planned maintenance surveys, defect analysis, design and specification and contract administration, and is also able to provide specialist professional services in areas such as dilapidations and party wall matters. Paul has managed numerous projects of various sizes and is also an Accredited NEC Supervisor.

Phil Downey BSc ACMA
Financial Controller
Phil joined Macegreen in 2022 as Financial Controller to assist the growing needs of the company and help further streamline financial operations, working closely with Victoria to support the board.
Phil qualified as a chartered management accountant with the Prudential Financial Services & Estate Agency company before spending 10 years working in Finance at Procter and Gamble. He then moved into General, Commercial and Strategic Management at 3 packaging companies – Amcor, Maillis, Coveris – managing businesses across the UK and Europe.
More recently Phil has focused his working commitments locally in the Bristol area having worked at digital marketing company Hybrid, as their Finance Manager and in various consultancy roles assisting businesses in Financial Management, Treasury and Business Strategy.

Will Shuck BSc
Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Will is a graduate Quantity Surveying student from the University of Plymouth with more than 18 months experience within the construction industry. He has mainly worked on projects based in the South West, beginning his career as an assistant quantity surveyor during his placement year in 2021 at Hurley & Co, and joined Macegreen in 2022 as a trainee quantity surveyor.
During his Plymouth placement year, Will primarily worked on private sector residential projects throughout Devon & Cornwall and is now beginning to gain more experience within the public sector with Macegreen, namely healthcare and local authority-based projects. Will is now based in Macegreen’s Bristol office and is aiming to gain as much experience as possible to work towards becoming a chartered quantity surveyor.
